Which do you prefer? I will keep mum, so as not to influence your decision.

Cover for Wherever I Lie Is Your Bed © 2009, Center for the Art...

Cover for Wherever I Lie Is Your Bed © 2009, Center for the Art of Translation. That’s right, no printed version will ever be created, amazing. A prelude the recipient blog’s eventual redesign, and a hopefully rad study in bike graphics as modified to a rectangular format. “Mission Mission” is custom lettering, a less brutish riff on the NY Post—like it?

The Asian Art Museum selected this thrillingly crashy for their,...

The Asian Art Museum selected this thrillingly crashy for their, yes, Shanghai exhibition catalogue. Couldn’t be more thrilled. Take a look at the back cover and some interior pages here, and do note that the deco Chinese characters on the back were drawn (in Illustrator, necessarily) by yours truly.

Hey, this exhibition catalogue I designed the Asian Art Museum...

Hey, this exhibition catalogue I designed the Asian Art Museum just showed up, hot off the presses. Most of the ink on the cover is mix of metallic gold and plain old black, and the result is rich and fantastic. Also, I might have finally figured out how to use Perpetua. Hurray to everyone for making this happen. Read more about it here.

T-shirt designs, being printed as this is being posted. They are a tribute to San Francisco’s municipal transit system, and they’re pretty sincere. I was reluctant to get into t-shirts, for various reasons both valid and not, but hey, here goes. I’m not sure how I’m going to sell these. Got any innovative distribution strategies?

Oh, and custom type, drawn by me, blush.

A book of advisory verse from a lovely hypnotherapist. Drew the tree, and it came out pretty alright. There is an explanation for why it’s upside-down, but this isn’t the place for it. Better: it’s tiny! Only 3.5 by 5 inches! Some interior spreads:

Beautiful photographs, beautiful clients. A nice give-and-take the whole way through. They even went for a varnish-only half-title. The book came out wonderfully and you should go buy it.

Oh, hey! They talked about this book on NPR. Why not have a listen? Mr. Arndt is such a nice guy. Man.

It was fundamentally inappropriate and he wound up doing it himself. It is for the best. Still, this is nice lettering.
